Chiropractic treatment is not usually painful unless the area being worked on is inflamed. If something is painful, please tell your chiropractor and they can alter your treatment appropriately to your needs.
The most common form of treatment is an adjustment or manipulation, which involves your chiropractor using their hands to perform precise, quick and small movements into joints, more often than not within the spine, to try and restore their normal function. You may hear a ‘click’ or a ‘pop’ during the manipulation; this is a normal response to the manipulation.
You may experience mild reactions to treatment such as temporary aches and pains. Again, this is a normal response to treatment and generally lasts no longer than 24 hours afterwards. If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your chiropractor.
