Soft Tissue Therapy works really well as an adjunct to chiropractic treatment. The reason for this is that it reinforces changes made to the nervous system by the chiropractic adjustment. All this combined with some core exercises and general lifestyle/dietary advice, which Ashleigh and our chiropractors can provide you with should get you feeling much better very quickly.

Here’s a little bit more about Ash

How long have you been a Soft Tissue Therapist?

I have been practicing Soft Tissue Therapy for almost a year now and have been practicing Sports Massage for 2 years.

What made you decide to become a Soft Tissue Therapist?

I have always had a fascination with Human Physiology, and actually have a degree in Human Physiology, Genetics and Psychology. I am a very sporty person and also very accident prone, often incurring injuries while horse riding. This introduced me to the world of Physiotherapy and Chiropractics. After taking a bit of a scenic route through various qualifications I returned back to my passion to become a Soft Tissue Therapist and now that I have I can’t imagine doing anything else.

What do you enjoy the most about being a Soft Tissue Therapist?

I love being in a position to have a positive effect on peoples’ everyday lives and see the improvements first hand. Anyone who knows me will know that I also have the gift of the gab so I enjoy the chats as well.

What do you enjoy the least about being a Soft Tissue Therapist?

Occupational injuries and the tension that can build up if I don’t get regular treatments myself. Luckily, it’s a great excuse to have weekly massages!

What is your favourite thing to treat?

I love treating shoulders and hips and I find that my approach addresses things often missed by general massage therapists. Many people have imbalances in these areas and, however slight, it has a knock-on effect to everything else in the body. Sometimes a simple fix is all it takes to get everything back into synergy

Are there any quick tips you can give when it comes to pain?

Don’t be afraid of movement, sometimes a relaxed walk or a bit of yoga can do wonders.
Prehab is better than rehab, even once the pain is resolved it is important to practice good habits to make sure you keep it at bay

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

In my spare time I enjoy strength training, pilates and anything that is outdoors and active.
